Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- Several small enterprises specialized in winemaking will be able to test production at the laboratories of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM). Collaboration is stipulated in a Memorandum recently signed by the Small Wine Producers Union and the education institution.

Under the document, 26 enterprises, members of the Small Wine Producers Union, will be able to carry out current wine tests to ensure their quality and to operate the necessary technological interventions to increase the quality of wines. Analyzes will be made for a relatively small cost compared to the market, but will cover the expenditures for consumables and logistics. When performing laboratory tests, students will be participating to develop their practical skills for using advanced technologies.

At the same time, Faculty of Food Technology, Department of Oenology, will organize the training of Union members to use research and analysis capacities to facilitate the increase in the quality of wine products and their competitiveness on foreign markets. The Memorandum also includes the practical training of students and master students of UTM to wineries.

The Department of Oenology of the Technical University can offer competent training and wine testing services, after the government with the support of the European Investment Bank has invested 1.3 million euros to modernize the structure. The investments were made under the "Wine Branch" Program, and as a result, 12 laboratories and study rooms of this department were equipped with modern equipment to increase the quality of the training of future winemakers. Also, a micro wine department has been created, endowed with European equipment for organoleptic testing of wine.
