Foreign Ministers of Moldova, Portugal adopted joint declaration on 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Chisinau, February 10 /MOLDPRES/- Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Moldova and Portugal adopted a joint Declaration on the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two states, the MAEIE press service has reported.
It reads:
"On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Moldova, we, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, express our deep appreciation for the lasting friendship between our countries.
We recognize and support the decisive steps taken by Moldova on accession to the EU and we welcome the granting in the summer of 2022 of the status of a candidate country for accession.
We recognize the importance of the reforms carried out by the Moldovan authorities, which aim to modernize the country and improve the living conditions of its citizens, as well as the consistent commitment to contribute to peace and security in Europe.
We appreciate the important role of the Moldovan diaspora in Portugal. The diaspora serves as a bridge between our two countries, strengthening our cultural and economic relations and proving the strength of our friendship.
In terms of challenges faced by Moldova, in the context of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, we call for ever stronger cooperation and support for Moldova as it builds its resilience against multiple threats and navigates its irreversible path of accession to the EU.
We are confident that our shared commitment to EU values – democracy, human rights and the rule of law – will continue to serve as the cornerstone of our friendship and partnership.
We will continue to deepen and expand our bilateral cooperation and work together for a peaceful and prosperous Europe.
Nicu Popescu
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova
Joao Gomes Cravinho
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic".
The MAEIE mentions that the diplomatic anniversary was the occasion for the opening of a painting exhibition made by Moldovan painter, residing in Lisbon Vladimir Onică at the ministry. The collection includes a lot of works with images from Portugal seen with the works of our diaspora settled in Lisbon.
The exhibition can be admired during one month, starting from February 10.
