
Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with Spanish lawmakers
Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with the members of a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies from the Kingdom of Spain, led by the head of the aforementioned Committee, parliamentary group of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), Pau Mari-Klose, Antonio Gómez-Reino Varela, parliamentary group Unidas Podemos, Juan José Matarí Sáez, parliamentary group of the People’s Party, María Olga Alonso Suárez, PSOE group, María Valentina Martínez Ferro, People’s Party’s parliamentary group, Víctor Manuel Sanchez del Real, VOX parliamentary group, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
At the meeting with the Spanish delegation, the Moldovan official referred to the bilateral agenda, the actions undertaken by the authorities in Moldova’s European integration way, Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine, its dramatic consequences on the region, including the energy crisis faced by Moldova.
„I thanked the Spanish authorities for backing the process of Moldova’s European modernization. I pointed out that we are honoured to host, in 2023, the second meeting of the European Political Community, which will be held shortly before the rotating Presidency of Spain at the EU Council, due to start in July 2023.
We tackled also the Moldovan-Spanish cooperation in the defence and interior affairs sector, as well as the deepening of the commercial and economic ties and the relations between business people from the two countries.
We highlighted the importance of boosting the ratification of the agreement in the social security field between Moldova and Spain, signed in Madrid on 21 July 2022, as well as the consideration of ways of cutting the roaming prices for the benefit of the citizens from both countries,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
Spain is by the side of Moldova and will provide every needed support to overcome the emerging crises faced by the region.
