
Moldovan head of state has meeting with NATO Secretary General
Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York. The discussion was focused on the present cooperation programmes, the security developments in the region and the need to enhance Moldova’s resilience to the current risks.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state stressed the importance of the cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance within the programmes accepted in the Individual Partnership Action Plan of the Moldova-NATO partnership, with emphasis on the professional development of the Armed Forces or on the enhancement of the integrity of the security and defence sectors. The Moldovan president also highlighted the Science for Peace and Security Programme or the one on strengthening the capacities of Moldova’s civilian protection. Jens Stoltenberg reiterated his respect for the status of Moldova’s neutrality, for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He underlined NATO’s availability to extend the cooperation on the segments dealing with the hybrid dangers, misinformation or cyber risks.
