Moldovan president meets lawmakers of European Parliament
Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with the members of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, MEPs Siegfried Muresan, Ramona Strugariu, Vlad Nistor and Maria Grapini, on a visit to Chisinau. The head of state thanked the lawmakers for every support provided to Moldova by the European institutions, both in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and as a response to the gas crisis.
According to the presidential press service, the discussions with the European MPs were focused on Moldova’s priorities in the relation with EU; President Maia Sandu reiterated that that the European integration remained a key priority for the country. ‘’Moldova’s citizens gave a strong signal that they want to see a European democracy at home and we will continue the reforms, in order to ensure this,’’ Maia Sandu said.
In the end of the meeting, President Maia Sandu awarded the Order of Honour to the head of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, MEP Siegfried Muresan. The state distinction was offered as a token of appreciation for Moldova’s European integration and the efforts of consolidation of the democratic processes in Moldova.
„For many years, Siegfried Muresan has been a reliable friend and a promoter of our country’s interests in the European Union’s institutions and thus he helps us edify a better living for all our citizens,’’ the head of state said at a ceremony on the distinction’s awarding.
