Moldovan president thanks German MPs for support provided to Moldova by Germany in various sectors
Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, during an official visit to Berlin, has participated in parliamentary discussions organized within the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on European Affairs of the German Federal Parliament.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state informed the German lawmakers about the current situation, challenges we face inside the country and regionally, plans on reformation of the justice system and combating the corruption, as well as the stake of the snap parliamentary elections due in next July, meant to strengthen the efforts of returning to democracy and rule of law state in Moldova.
„I thanked the MPs for the support provided by Germany for development programmes in Moldova, for the German investments in the country’s economy, for the support for the European integration and the assistance provided for the management of the pandemic crisis,’’ Maia Sandu said.
At the Bundestag, the head of state discussed with the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Günther Krichbaum, head of the Committee on European Affairs, Norbert Roettgen. Maia Sandu thanked the interlocutors for opportunity to make heard and explain Moldova’s stance on diverse subjects of common internal and external interest. She noted that ‘’the participation in such discussions is a good opportunity to make new allies and friends on the international stage.’’
Today evening, President Maia Sandu ended her two-day official visit to Berlin.
