Moldova's National Metrology Institute to be reorganized
Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Metrology Institute – administrative authority subordinated to the Economics Ministry, will merge with Centre of Applied Metrology and Certification. The cabinet approved the concerned decision today, in order to optimize the work of the institution, efficiently manage the funds provided by foreign partners, as well as to cover nationally with laboratories accredited in all fields of measurement, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The reorganized institute will have a limit staff of 150 employees and will further implement, nationally, the policy in the sector of metrology, ensuring the uniformity, lawfulness, exactness and traceability of measurements in Moldova. The Institute will also take over the powers of the Centre of Applied Metrology and Certification of metrological verification of the measurement means and laboratory tests.
The reorganization of the National Metrology Institute is meant to solve the problems faced by the business environment from Moldova and the entities of the metrology field. In the last years of work, the Centre of Applied Metrology and Certification suspended more positions from the accreditation sector and some laboratories were closed. Thus, the beneficiaries had to move at long distances for verifying the measurement means, bearing financial expenses.
