Chisinau, 18 october /MOLDPRES/- Leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), former President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon announced his resignation from the position of deputy. The statement was made today during a press briefing.

"In two months, on December 18, the PSRM congress will take place. Ten years ago I became leader of the Socialist Party - in ten years I and my team have secured all possible political victories. Today I had the meeting of the political executive of the party and I want to announce about two important decisions: first, at the next congress to eliminate the position of president, and the party to be led by a collegial body. And two - I refuse the mandate of deputy of the Republic of Moldova. I do not see the point in being in this Parliament. A request will be sent to the secretariat in the coming days. I decided not to be tied to the parliamentary agenda, to be more and more active in the villages, closer to the citizens ", said Dodon.

The Socialist leader said he would resume travel through the country's localities and said he was confident his party would return to power. Dodon also said that he would later lead a Moldovan-Russian business association in Chisinau, supported by the Russian organization "Delovaia Rossia". The politician also said that this is not a departure from the country.
