MEP re-elected chair of European Parliament Delegation for relations with Moldova
Chisinau, Oct 3 /MOLDPRES/- MEP Siegfried Mureșan was re-elected today as chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova.
The MEP said he will continue "to defend the interests of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens in the European Parliament, as he has done for the past 10 years.""The Republic of Moldova is very important for the security of the European Union and it is very important for Romania. That is why we must give it the support it deserves. As chair of the delegation, my main goal is to help the Republic of Moldova be ready for European Union membership and to combat security threats from the Russian Federation. At the same time, I believe that the Republic of Moldova needs more financial and technical support from the European Union in order to modernize, reform and be ready for accession," Muresan said.
He added that he will supplement his work as head of the delegation with his work as the European Parliament's chief negotiator for the EU's next multiannual budget post-2027.
"I will thus make sure that we allocate sufficient financial resources to support Moldova's efforts on its path towards EU integration", Mureșan concluded.
