Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today approved amendments to the Law on the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) in the first reading.

The draft was worked out, in the context of the fulfillment of the recommendations set forth by the Venice Commission. Thus, the authors suggest that some of the members of the commission for evaluation of the Prosecutor General should have experience in the Prosecution system, in order to ensure a balanced, independent and complex evaluation.

The law will also regulate the criteria of evaluation of the Prosecutor General – quality of the work’s planning, efficiency of leadership, control and management, behavior, internal and external communication, impact of confidence and the institutional efficiency.

The legislative amendments proposed also refer to particular aspects related to the ad interim duties of the position of Prosecutor General and appointment to office of deputies in specialized prosecutor’s offices.

To become law, the draft should be adopted in final reading.
