Moldovan parliament joins national afforestation campaign
MPs, officials and leadership of parliament participated today in national afforestation campaign Generation of the Forest. They planted acacia saplings in the forest strip in Nisporeni district.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, the action is part of the National Program for Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation, which aims to plant and rehabilitate 145,000 hectares of forest by 2032.
'Let's give the foresters a helping hand and join the campaign launched by the Ministry of the Environment. This initiative is essential for increasing forested areas and protecting the environment. Those who cannot participate today can do so throughout March,' speaker Igor Grosu said.
The campaign takes place in over 120 locations across the country, and by late 2025, the planting of at least 7,000 hectares of forest is planned. The initiative aims to create a cleaner environment, prevent soil erosion, and contribute to combating climate change.
