Today - last day for electoral contenders to make electoral propaganda

Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that today is the last day for electoral contenders to make electoral propaganda.

Under the Electoral Code, the campaigning is strictly prohibited on election day and the previous day. “On these days it is not allowed to hold or reflect activities/materials on electoral propaganda and to appear candidates at TV and radio shows. Also, the electoral contenders cannot make transfers to or from the account – Election Fund”, the quoted source said.

The continuation of electoral campaigning on the above-mentioned days represents administrative offense and is fined from 10 to 20 conventional units (500-1,000 lei), applied for private people, and 40 to 50 conventional units (2,000-2,500 lei) – for electoral candidate.

The runoff of the presidential elections will take place on 13 November 2016. Citizens will be able to elect between candidates who picked up the highest number of votes in the first round – leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon and leader of the Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu.
