Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Romania will provide 650 places at two leisure camps from the Tulcea and Neamt counties for the best pupils from Moldova. Deputy Education Minister Lilia Pogolsa made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

As many as 150 of all places were provided for pupils who won national and international Olympiads and the rest of the places were distributed through the diplomatic missions of Romania in Moldova. “These joint actions will facilitate the promotion of the inter-cultural dialogue and the spirit of affiliation to the European values. We thank the government of Romania for numerous programmes and projects undertaken to back the education system of Moldova,” Pogolsa said.

Attending the event, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita said that, in 2017, programmes would be offered to the leisure camp from Oglinzi, nearby Tirgu Neamt, Neamt county, and a camp from the settlement Sulina, Tulcea county.

”The criteria of selection for the participants in the programme are: Romanians from everywhere with ages between 10 and 18 years; they participate in the programme for the first time ever; have basic knowledge of the Romanian language; are winners of Olympiads or national and international contests or have good results in education, sport, music, fine arts and promote the Romanian identity. The pupils may gather in groups of at least ten persons, with a companion and with all documents OK,” Ionita noted.

The programme organized in leisure camps will comprise educative, cultural and sports activities, courses of Romanian language, movie screenings and lectures of general culture. The spending is borne by the organizers; the participants should just pay the transport up to the meeting places. The young people will go to rest in more stages, with the last one being late next August.

At the same time, Moldova this year will offer 100 tickets for children from Romania at Moldovan leisure camps.

The ARC programme of camps is dedicated to ethnic Romanians from outside Romania. It is organized by the Ministry for Romanians Everywhere, in cooperation with the Youth and Sport Ministry of Romania and is at its ninth issue.
