Epidemiologists find more irregularities in feeding of Chisinau kindergarten children

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ – The standard menus set by the Health Ministry, fresh fruits, cheeses and the necessary meat norm are missing in most kindergartens of Chisinau. The announcement was made by the head of the Chisinau Public Health Centre (CSPC), Luminita Suveica, today.

According to the cited source, the CSPC specialists carried out inspections in the kindergartens in Chisinau during August and found an improvement of the menus compared to the similar period of 2016, but mostly the amount of MDL 23, set for a child's daily food is not enough to buy the necessary products.

"The bread, pasta and pastry products predominate in the menus. Thus, the menu is based on lipids and carbohydrates, which is a risk factor and may have consequences such as obesity or cardiovascular disease," said Suveica.

The head of the CSPC said that in order to improve the situation in kindergartens, changes should be made to the Purchase Act. "Often products, especially fruits, are purchased through intermediaries, which increases costs. Also, there was an erroneous calculation of daily living standards for a child, discrepancies between the data presented by accountants and executives, and some restrictions on accountancy," said Suveica.

According to the quoted source, on 04 September, the CSPC specialists will start checks in schools too.
