World Forum of Bulgarian Media inaugurated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/- The 13th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media was inaugurated today in Chisinau. The event is organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and Association of Bulgarian Media Abroad (ABMA).

Bulgaria’s Vice-President Iliana Yotova participated in the official opening of the event. The official said that the meeting is extremely important for Bulgarians in all countries. “Journalists are the link joining Bulgarians everywhere. Due to information issued by the media representatives, our fellow citizens feel closer. I am glad you tell the world about our country, language and our traditions. In the world where modern information technologies are extremely popular, media has the role of informing, enlightening and last but not least of socializing, which is why, we appreciate much what you are doing. We will discuss not only media at this forum, but also Bulgarians around the world and their future,” the official said.

For his part, President Igor Dodon said that this event is a premiere for our country. “We are honored that you have chosen to conduct this forum in Moldova. It is a very good initiative for connecting Bulgarians everywhere. Tens of thousands of Bulgarians live in our country several and the authorities will do their best to ensure that their rights are respected”, he said.

BTA Director Maxim Minchev said that the forum, bringing together the Bulgarian media around the world, is organized for the 13th time. “We are very pleased that this year the forum takes place in Moldova, where there are many compatriots who keep the Bulgarian traditions”, he said.

Attending the event were Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Vulchev, Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov, Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova, as well as members of the Bulgarian parliament.

The World Forum of Bulgarian Media has been held since 2005. So far, the meetings took place in Sofia, Chicago, Rome, Madrid, Varna and Burgas, Vienna, Amsterdam and Bucharest, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, Bosilegrad, Athens and Prague.
