Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), chaired by the delegation of Russia, took place in Bender on 16 November, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

The agenda comprised two subjects: organizational issues, hearing and approval of reports of the Joint Military Command (JMC) on the situation in the Security Zone.

As for organizational issues, at a request by the Transnistrian delegation, JCC approved lieutenant colonel Alexandru Lichyakov to the office of military observer.

The Commission heard and approved two weekly reports of JMC on the situation in the Security Zone, describing it as stable.

At the extraordinary meeting, summoned by the Russian delegation, the Commission discussed the issue on ensuring movement on the bridge across the Dniester river nearby the settlements Gura Bicului and Bacioc and official opening of the bridge on 18 November, with the participation of the Moldovan prime minister and the Tiraspol leader.

JCC took note of the official report on the assessment of the technical state of the bridge, signed by representatives of the competent institutions, approved by the joint commission and, as a result, established that the bridge can be used by the road transport.

At the discussions, the Moldovan delegation drew the sides’ attention to the need to abstain from unilateral measures as to the activity of posts, placed nearby the bridge, especially as regards the intention to change the infrastructure and the posts’ personal establishment without preliminary coordination with JMC and violation of JCC’s decisions.

Given the non-constructive position of the Transnistrian delegation on the issue discussed, the Commission ruled that the discussions would be continued at the next meeting, due on 23 November 2017.
