Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today voiced satisfaction and pride with the inclusion of Martisor (trinket worn in honour of March 1) in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

“When we work more and make more efforts, we succeed. This is a moment of pride for us. The same thing happened last year, when the national carpet was included in UNESCO’s list as well. May be, beyond the material values, this is a symbolical, but quite precious thing for our entire country, a thing which we should be proud of,” Pavel Filip said.

In the context, the PM thanked all those who contributed to this achievement, noting, in particular, the contribution of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, as well as of foreign partners.

The draft on nominating the holiday, Cultural practices associated to the 1-st of March, in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was launched by Moldova’s Culture Ministry in March 2014, in partnership with the Culture Ministries from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia.
