Moscow likely to appoint new ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/- New Ambassador of Russia to Moldova could be nominated Oleg Vasnetov, head of the Department for Liaisons with the Subjects of the Federation, the Parliament and Public Associations of Russia, the Kommersant newspaper reads.
Vasnetov will replace Ambassador Farid Muhametsin, who will turn 71 in late January, an age exceeding the limit for public service.
The new ambassador has been working at the Foreign Ministry since 1975. He speaks three languages: English, French and Bulgarian. He worked at the UNESCO Cultural Relations Department and the Department for Liaisons with the Subjects of the Federation, the Parliament and Public Associations of Russia, as well as the embassies of Russia in Sofia, Paris and Kinshasa (Congo).
The newspaper writes that Vasnetov will take office in March 2018.
