Transnistrian delegation interrupts works of last meeting of Joint Control Commission from 2017

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) held a meeting chaired by Russia’s delegation in the Bender city on 28 December. Three subjects were on the agenda, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

Within the organizational issue, the Transnistrian delegation put forward Ruslan Mova as expert with permanent status in the interior affairs sector.

It is worth to be mentioned that, neither at this meeting, JCC managed to approve the weekly report of the Joint Military Command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (FMMP) on the situation in the Security Zone in the period 13-19 December 2017. The report was heard also at a meeting on 21 December this year, but its approval was postponed, given that the Transnistrian delegation demanded additional consultations, in the context of the actions from 2 December 2017 (the so-called Transnistrian power wielding forces abusively set a so-called “post of border guards and customs officers” on the road segment managed by the Anina Ltd company, nearby the Harbovat village, which creates difficulties to the free movement of people and goods and destabilizes the situation in the Security Zone).

The head of Russia’s delegation warned the sides about the need to abstain from unilateral measures as for the work of posts placed in the Security Zone. Taking into consideration that the concerned issue had been earlier discussed, he suggested that the report be put up to vote. Yet, the Transnistrian side turned down the proposal from the very beginning. To justify the non-constructive stance of the Transnistrian representatives, JCC co-head Oleg Belyakov invoked irrelevant arguments, detached from reality, in a way which has already become traditional.

Despite the efforts of the participants in the meeting to identify compromise solutions to overcome the emerged situation, the Transnistrian delegation interrupted the JCC meeting, however.

The meeting was adjourned for 11 January 2018, at a proposal by the head of the Russian delegation.
