President of Romania receives Moldova's deputy premier for European integration

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, on a working visit to Bucharest, today met President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

In discussions, Iurie Leanca appreciated the advanced level of the bilateral political dialogue between the two states. Referring to the symbolical significance of this year, when the 100th anniversary of Romania’s Great Union is marked, Leanca said: “Bearing a special symbolical importance, the 2018 year, as a year of the Centenary, obliges both Chisinau and Bucharest to make joint efforts, so that the citizens from both banks of Prut feel the beneficial effects of the advanced cooperation between our states.”   

In the context, Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca expressed thanks for the disinterested support Romania was providing to Moldova in the European integration and promotion of domestic reforms. In particular, the official emphasized the personal efforts of the Romanian president, who firmly promotes the cause of Moldova on the external stage.   

For his part, President Klaus Iohannis said that Moldova’s European agenda remained priority for Romania and that the European integration was the only viable way for the country’s future. In the context, the Romanian head of state stressed the importance of the consolidation of Moldova’s pro-European forces for ensuring a clear-cut and viable prospect.
