Moldovan PM asks for examination of possibilities to reduce drug prices

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that under current economic conditions, there are prerequisites for reducing prices for a wide range of medicines, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The premier noted that the recovery of the economic situation in the country and stabilization of the financial and banking system led to the appreciation of the national currency, creating conditions for reducing the prices of over 1,400 medicines, on average by 9 per cent.

The official said that the discussions on the matter had been already initiated, and asked the responsible authorities to speed up the review process. “We do not have to wait, this is stipulated in the legislation and I want you to get conclusions for the next week and to say when we can proceed to lowering drug prices”, he said.
