Moldova, Hungary to collaborate within matters of environment

Chisinau, 07 March /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova and Hungary will cooperate in the field of the environment, according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed today in Chisinau by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, which pays an official visit in Moldova.

The document provides for an exchange of data on subject of water management. The Memorandum entails carrying out several projects and expertise to provide Moldova with quality drinking water.

At a press conference, the two officials said they discussed bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Hungary. "We decided to deepen our relations through various joint projects, as well as collaboration within various regional and international bodies. We also talked about implementation by Moldova of provisions of the Association Agreement with EU, contribution and role of our country in the Eastern Partnership. A discussed topic was also revival of bilateral economic and environmental cooperation for a good cooperation in the future," said Tudor Ulianovschi.

"The visit of today shows once again support coming from Hungary. The dialogue between our countries is a very good one. There is an economic potential that is and it has to be capitalised. Similarly, Hungary supports Moldova in its European path, that is why we are grateful for the provided support, including within European institutions," said Ulianovschi.

At his turn, Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister, Péter Szijjártó, said that Moldova has been an important partner for Hungary. "Hungary will provide Moldova with all necessary support in its European path and accelerate process of EU integration. In this sense, we are ready to share our experience," said the official.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Hungary were established on 16 January 1992. The two countries have signed 60 treaties in different fields, such as investment, commercial, economic, agricultural, humanitarian, migration etc.
