Moldovan prime minister demands maximum mobilisation due to bad weather conditions

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, gathered the meeting of crisis cell in the evening, regarding abundant snowfall. There were evaluated the existing situation on practicability of roads in Moldova, access to localities and public institutions, functionality of frontier stations and connection of localities to electric power, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

According to info presented, all roads in Moldova are practicable, a more difficult situation being attested in its central and southern regions. The rescuers and firemen unblocked 16 means of transport from the highways to Hancesti, Cahul and Comrat cities. During the day, none of the locality was disconnected from electricity.

The specialised services operate on a larger scale. The road works involved about 220 technical units, over 300 workers, and 1,400 tons of anti – slip material.

The traffic police, rescuers and policemen will patrol heavier roads: Chisinau – Causeni  – Anenii Noi – Varnita, Chisinau – Leuseni, and Chisinau – Calarasi – Ungheni to provide all necessary assistance. Within that context, the prime minister called for special technical units to be ready to intervene to unlock and tow the means of transport.

Pavel Filip said that under current conditions maximum mobilisation has been needed from all public administrations and specialised teams. "Persons should be informed so that everyone knows which roads are blocked, which are feasible, what are the next forecasts, whether emergency services must be continuously accessible," said PM.

The persons in difficulty due to bad weather conditions can call emergency services 901, 902 and 903.
