Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/- The decree and the law ratifying the financing agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association and the loan agreement between Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction on implementing the government service modernisation project was published in the Official Journal of Moldova today.

The document of over 100 pages provides for two loans by the World Bank – 15 million dollars will be offered by the International Development Association and 5 million dollars will be allocated by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Other 2.43 million dollars will be earmarked to the activities related to the project.

The implementation of the government service modernization project will help eliminate outdated public services and merging more services to increase their quality according to the expectations of the citizens. At the same time, access to public services at local level through digital channels will be facilitated; the number of necessary documents and the duration of public service delivery will be reduced.

The deadline for the entry into force of the agreements is 120 days from signing it. The period for implementation of the government service modernization project is until 30 June 2023, and the validity of the agreements is 20 years after signing it.

The agreement also stipulates that government agencies and relevant ministries will benefit from technical assistance for service digitization, as well as institutional capacity compliance. Citizens and local businesses will get direct benefits, devoting less time, effort and resources to access essential government services.
