Firefighters installed smoke detectors on 1,000 families in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/- Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) installed smoke detectors on 1,000 families across the country within the national campaign “O casă protejată, o viață salvată” (A protected house, a saved life).

IGSU press officer Liliana Puscasu said that the firefighters installed such devices in homes in Soroca, Edineț, Căușeni, Călărași, Briceni, Florești, Ungheni, Taraclia, Comrat, Cahul and Chișinău.

“Most people who benefitted from detectors were those with more children, the elderly and sick people,” Puscasu said.

The campaign launched by the Interior Ministry aims to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

“In the next period the firefighters will install detectors in Bulboaca and Roscani settlements, Anenii Noi, and Stefanesti, Stefan Voda district,” Puscasu said.

The campaign was launched at the initiative of the Democratic Party and aims to prevent cases of poisoning with products emanating from burning.

According to IGSU data, 31 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have occurred in Moldova, after which suffered 60 people, including 20 children. Out of all cases of intoxication, five have resulted in the death of 7 people.
