Political representatives on Transnistrian settlement discuss mechanism to ensure participation in international road traffic

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/- A new meeting of the working groups for the development of road transport and infrastructure, with the participation of the political representatives in negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement of Chisinau and Tiraspol, Cristina Lesnic and Vitalii Ignatiev, and the international partners in the 5+2 format, took place yesterday.

According to the Bureau for Reintegration, the sides continued talks on the potential mechanism to ensure participation in international road traffic of vehicles in the Transnistrian region.

The issue on admission in the international road traffic of means of transport in the Transnistrian region and the need for the sides to identify a viable mechanism in this respect is a commitment approved in the 5+2 format and is one of the eight priorities in the so-called Berlin plus package.

The sides agreed that increased efforts are being made to resolve this issue as a matter of priority.

At the end, the need to continue the dialogue at expert and policy level to identify viable solutions was set, and it was agreed the next meeting be held during the following week.
