Moldovan deputy premier meets minister for Romanians everywhere

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic today had a meeting with Minister for Romanians Everywhere Natalia-Elena Intotero, accompanied by Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

In the beginning of the meeting, the deputy prime minister said that the concerned visit had a major impact on the development of the Moldovan-Romanian relations, especially in the education sector. Cristina Lesnic thanked for the constant support provided to education institutions from both banks of Dniester, noting that Romania is one of the most important donors for cross-border, operational and know-how transfer projects.

Also, the deputy prime minister referred to the present situation in the process of talks on the Transnistrian settlement. Lesnic elucidated Chisinau’s priorities in this dialogue, among them being the ensuring of the observance of human rights in Moldova’s eastern districts and monitoring the situation in the Security Zone.  

Cristina Lesnic highlighted the substantial role of the programmes for the promotion of confidence building measures and the need to synchronize with the Moldovan authorities the activities promoted to this end by international partners, in order to advance in achieving the desideratum of Moldova’s reintegration and creating a single national space.   

For her part, Natalia-Elena Intotero emphasized the support of Moldova’s European integration, especially in the context of Romania taking over the Presidency of the European Union’s Council in 2019. She voiced full openness for a fruitful cooperation in the long run. At the same time, the Romanian official welcomed the carrying out of the campaign, A Book for Your Education, launched by the Reintegration Policies Bureau on 15 February - 31 March 2018.   

Also, Natalia-Elena Intotero specified some projects implemented by the Ministry for Romanians Everywhere and which regard as beneficiaries children, pupils and teachers from Moldova, including from those eight Latin-script schools from the Transnistrian region (libraries’ endowment with literature, organization of summer camps and free of charge stays, carrying out professional exchanges of good practices, etc.)     

In the end, the officials agreed on the need to make joint efforts to strengthen the partnership in the education sector, with focus on the promotion of the observance of the fundamental right to education in the mother language.
