Prizes of International Book Saloon for Children and Youth awarded in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - The 22nd issue of the International Book Saloon for Children and Youth, staged at the MOLDEXPO Exhibition Centre on 19-22 April, ended with the Gala of Laureates on 22 April.  

The director of the Ion Creanga National Library for Children, Claudia Balaban, has said that 150 publishing houses from Moldova, Lithuania, Romania, Sweden Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries participated in the 2018 issue of the saloon. “At the Saloon, we also had a panel of discussions on the destiny of the book for children and the one of reader in the century of information technologies, in which writers of Moldova and from abroad participated,” Claudia Balaban noted.    

Writer Vladimir Besleaga was awarded the prize Ion Creanga, offered by the Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute for the entire activity in the sector of books for children; Victoria Rata was awarded the prize Igor Vieru for all the work in the field of illustrations of books for children. Writer Claudia Partole got the prize Book of the Year for the book, Invazia (The Invasion). The prize Simpatia copiilor (Children’s Liking) was offered to writer Spiridon Vangheli for the book Crăița (The Queen).        

The Stiinta publishing house was awarded the prize Cartea cognitivă (The Cognitive Book) for the book Basarabia în actul Marii Uniri de la 1918 (Bessarabia in the Act of Great Union from 1918); the same prize went also to Ioan Aurel-Pop for the book, A short illustrated history of the Romanians. The prize Cartea de referință (The Reference Book) was offered to the Litera publishing house for the illustrated encyclopedia Animale sălbatice (Wild Animals) and the prize, The best collection of books for children, went to the Gama publishing house from Iasi (Romania) for the collection, Povești pentru cei foarte mici (Tales for the smallest children).          

Marina Andruhina was awarded the prize, The best graphic presentation of book, for the graphic presentation of the book, Paparudă, rudă (Rain Maker) and the prize, The best illustration of book in original, went to Violeta Zabulica-Diordiev for the book, Lola cea frumoasă (Lola, the beautiful) by Claudia Partole and Valeriu Herta - for the graphic of the book Dorinta (The Wish) by Mihai Eminescu. The prize of the National Association of Creation Unions of Moldova was awarded to Daniel Corbu for the editing of the book, Integrala operei poetice (Integral of Poetic Works) by Mihai Eminescu and Lidia Grosu - for the book Milostiva notă, arderea...”(Kind Note, burning…); Renata Verejanu took the prize of the Writers’ Union for the book, Poetul Dintre Milenii (The Poet between Millenniums).      

The prize of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry went to writer Vasile Romanciuc for the book Lumina glasului lăuntric (The Light of the Inner Voice), Aurelian Silvestru for the book Îngerii dispar în ploaie (Angels Disappear in Rain), etc.   

Writer Iulian Filip was awarded the Prize of Moldova’s National Commission for UNESCO for the book, Iulian Filip în scene interferente (Iulian Filip in Interfering Scenes) and the Prize of the Chisinau City Hall went to Radu Osadcenco for the book, Chișinău 1918: Ghid-album al orașului (Chisinau 1918: guide Album of the City) and Ion Muscalu for the book, Zia, Regina costobocilor (Zia, the Queen of Costoboks).      

Also, more special prizes were awarded.

The first issue of the International Book Saloon for Children and Youth took place in 1997.
