Farmers from eastern district of Moldova receive certificates of access to farmlands from Transnistrian region

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The farmers from the eastern Dubasari district who have earlier not been able to till their lands today received the first certificates of access to their farmlands placed beyond the Rabnita-Tiraspol highway, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The certificates guarantee to farmers the right to use 400 hectares of the overall area of 6.300 hectares, placed on the left bank of Dniester. On the next period, the issuance of similar documents will be provided to the other farmlands.
The owners have not had access to the concerned lands since 2014. Yet, following negotiations held between Chisinau and Tiraspol, the access to the farmlands was re-established for a period of 20 years beginning with 1 August 2018.
The farmlands placed beyond the Rabnita-Tiraspol highway are owned by more than 5,500 people from the settlements Cocieri, Cosnita, Dorotcaia, Molovata Noua and Parata.
