Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ – More and more young persons in Moldova start business by support of EU. Here is the example of Dorin Tapu, a student from Tudora village, Stefan Voda district, which opened a European agricultural enterprise.

The young man is owner of an efficient tractor, purchased on European money, with which he cultivates tens of hectares of agricultural land every spring and autumn. The villagers call him every time they need to do mechanised works in field or orchard. "I have been thinking about a business in this area long ago, because people really needed such services. In the country, people work a lot in field and when works are mechanised, yield is much higher," said Dorin Tapu.

Dorin was a high school pupil when he earned a grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded by EU: Support to confidence – building measures programme. In order to get the money, almost €14,000, he went throughout a contest in which he had to submit idea of a business and show that he could maintain and develop business he intended to open.

Launched in 2016, business of Dorin Tapu has managed to become profitable, so young man is now thinking of expanding and buying new machinery and equipment with which to deliver a wider range of services not just for villagers, but also for those ones of neighboring localities.

While Dorin schedules business and is responsible for communicating with potential customers, his father works on tractor, along with another firm employee, a mechanic with decades of experience. "When I learned that the boy had earned money for business, I went home from abroad where I was taken to work. I am glad to have opportunity to work next to son and help him realise his plans. This week I sprinkled more trees and cultivated a young and beautiful orchard. And that means chances and future at home," said Ghenadie Tapu.

Dorin Tapu is one of seventy youngsters on both banks of the Dniester river, which received European grants worth €14,000 to set or develop a business. Programme: Support for confidence – building measures helps build confidence among inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester river, involving business, civil society and local authorities in joint business development and social infrastructure projects.
