Moldova's 41st diplomatic mission inaugurated in United Arab Emirates

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has inaugurated the Embassy of Moldova in the United Arab Emirates, which became the 41st diplomatic mission of the country abroad, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported. 

Attending the ceremony, held in Abu Dhabi late on 10 May, were Minister of State Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Moldovan cabinet members, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the Emirates, business people from UAE, active members of the Moldovan Diaspora.    

Addressing those present, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed that, through the inauguration of Moldova’s Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, the Moldovan government set, one again, the main objectives of the state’s foreign policy: establishing partnership relations with states from different regions of the world; promotion of Moldovan products and services on various markets; backing fellow countrymen, through providing consular and other kinds of services, no matter the country where they are.      

“The opening of diplomatic mission represents a new chapter of the development of cooperation relations between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates, which shows the Moldovan authorities’ interest in contributing to strengthening the bilateral ties in the most diverse sectors of mutual interest, thus speaking out for the increase in the bilateral commerce and attracting investments from Emirates into the national economy,” the Moldovan diplomacy head said.   

Minister Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh welcomed the inauguration of Moldova’s Embassy with headquarters in Abu Dhabi. On this occasion, he expressed the openness of the Emirates authorities to help consolidate the cooperation relations between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates, for the good of both nations.    

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates were established on 21 December 1995, with seven bilateral treaties signed at present. According to data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), in 2017, the Moldovan exports to the Emirates amounted to 2.47 million dollars (against 788.22 thousand dollars in 2016) and the imports stood at 1.89 million dollars (against 1.08 million dollars in 2016).
