Moldovan capital's city hall's education department finds out more irregularities at Chisinau-based kindergarten

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - The leadership of the Moldovan capital’s city hall’s Education, Youth and Sport General Department (DGETS) has found out more irregularities at the Lastaras kindergarten from Chisinau. Following reports unveiled, the acting mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, demanded the dismissal of the director of this kindergarten.      

The acting general director of DGETS, Rodica Gutu, said that the extra-curricular activities carried out at the kindergarten and provided by the Lastarasii public association take place during the schedule.

“Activities against payment are made instead of the curricular ones, which runs counter the regulation. The curricular activities need to be carried out till noon. Yet, they are made in the interval 9:00-10:00, while during 10:00-12:30 extra-curricular activities against payment are carried out. This fact jeopardizes the activities and the walking and playing schedule. At the same time, the activities against payment lead to the abandonment of the curricular schedule,” Gutu said.   

For his part, Ruslan Codreanu demanded that a contest, through which the new director of the Lastaras kindergarten had been appointed, should be cancelled and the employees should be dismissed from office.  

“This case represents the image of education in the municipality. About 14 million lei is annually collected from parents. For the 2016-2017 year, the extra-curricular activities were provided illegally, as the institution did not have the consent of the Ministry. The association had no right to sign contracts with parents, as it does not have authorizations. Parents practically pay for activities the institution is to provide free of charge,” Codreanu said.  

At the same time, within the control, it was impossible to check the institution in terms of financial and patrimonial management, as the director of the institution and the deputy director for economy are on medical leave and the chief accountant is said to have been employed half a year ago and does not know the previous accounting state.   

More parents notified the Chisinau city hall about irregularities taking place at the Lastaras kindergarten. Also, the parents claimed that they had been repeatedly   asked to pay illegal taxes.
