According to data provided by MJ, only economic agents intending to open new firms will be obliged to get authorizations for the use of the official or historical name of the state, the name’s abbreviations or derivatives.

A special commission will be in charge of the issuance of these authorizations. The state tax for the issuance of the permit for the use of the official name will be of 100,000 lei. If the economic agents do not observe the legal rules of use of the syntagms containing the name of the state, they will be sanctioned with a fine worth up to 20,000 lei.

At the same time, the legal entity which was withdrawn the permit for the use of the state’s official or historical name will be obliged to change its name in a 30-day term after the date of receiving the decision on the withdrawal of the permit.

In late last week, the parliament adopted a draft law which provides for the setting of a new tax on the use of the official or historical name of the state, abbreviations and their derivatives in the names of companies. The new regulations will enter into force three months after the date of their publication in the Official Journal.

Data by the State Register of companies shows that over 380 economic agents having the syntagms R. Moldova and Moldova in their names work in Moldova.
