Moldovan government approves new measures to prevent, fight corruption among policemen

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - The prevention and combating of corruption among Interior Ministry (MAI) employees will be made based on a new action plan. The document was approved by the cabinet today and contains 40 measures for enhancing the level of integrity within MAI, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Among these measures, there are unforeseen verifications of employees and their sanctioning in case of infringement of integrity exigencies, implementation of the management of corruption risks, applying of new security requirements within information systems for preventing risks of distorting the information.

Also, specialized trainings will be organized for employees and syllabi will be worked out in the integrity sector for MAI’s education institutions. The mechanism of employment and promotion of civil servants on merit basis and of professional integrity will be optimized, the denunciation of manifestations of corruption will be encouraged and the protection of people warning about integrity problems will be ensured.  At the same time, possibility to provide MAI services through single windows and online will be considered.

Other measures regard the ensuring of transparency in the process of promotion of normative acts and of administration of public assets and foreign assistance.    

To efficiently manage challenges concerning corruption, as well as to set up a unitary and coherent system of ensuring the institutional and professional integrity, the internal and anticorruption protection service was created at MAI. During 2017, the normative framework in the field was improved, the video supervision of the activity of the patrol police teams was implemented and a mechanism of financial stimulation of employees, worth 25 per cent of the sum of fines collected, was approved.
