United States provides Moldova with 3.5 million dollars in carrying out projects in children';s protection, developing media

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved at its meeting today signing of an Amendment to Agreement on Assuring Effective and Responsible Democratic Governance, signed in Chisinau in September 2016, between the Governments of Moldova and USA, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the document, US will provide technical assistance of $3.5 million, additional to total amount of funds of $36.1 million. The funds will be used for childldren's protection projects (programme "Copilaria mea" (My Childhood): $2 million) and independent media development ($1.5 million).

The beneficiaries of projects will be the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), independent media professionals, especially those involved in film and television production at local and international levels.

The initiative to sign Amendment belongs to US Government and does not involve financial commitments from Moldova. It is to be signed in Chisinau in May 2018. By now, there has been invested $16 million in funds provided under Agreement.
