Silviculturists from Moldova, Romania carry out joint works to protect forest

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - A group of specialists of the Romsilva National Forest Administration of Romania have been on visit to Moldova on 14-17 May. Along with colleagues from Moldsilva, the sylviculturists carried out more joint actions to protect forests.       

The agenda of the visit included trainings, within which they discussed the qualification of the staff with powers of protection, cooperation and exchange of experience in terms of use of phyto-sanitary preparations. “We have always enjoyed support of Romsilva specialists, we have jointly carried out interesting and useful projects for the forest fund and under a memorandum signed in Bucharest this year, we reconfirmed intentions to work together on this segment,” the director of the Moldsilva Agency, Ion Haralampov, said.   

Following the carrying out of the visit’s theoretical agenda, specialists went on the spot to forest enterprises from Straseni, Calarasi, Orhei, Chisinau, as well as to the Plaiul Fagului Nature Reserve. Sylviculturists monitored areas subjected to combating defoliating pests, checked the state of health of woods where natural regeneration works were carried out.  

“There are more possibilities of improving ways of monitoring and combating pests and we are ready to share our experience also to colleagues from Moldova. In Romania, we use mostly biological preparations, which are harmless for the farming sector and we would like these practices be taken over also by sylviculturists from Moldova,” the head of the Romsilva delegation, Dan Aldea, said.    

The delegation of the Romanian National Forest Administration included 25 specialists representing all departments of Romsilva. Sylviculturists from Moldova and Romania have developed close relations in the last 27 years; there are numerous exchanges of experience and joint actions between Moldsilva and Romsilva. The last memorandum of understanding was signed in March 2018 and sees exchange of information between the two institutions and training sylviculturists, participation in professional courses, development of joint projects, cooperation in the investments sector.
