Secretary General of Council of Europe reiterated Organisation's support in implementing assistance projects of Moldova

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Council of Europe (CoE) will provide all necessary support to Moldova in implementing assistance projects for Moldova. A statement on it was made today by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, at the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi.

According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service, interlocutors exchanged views on developments of Moldova's cooperation with Council of Europe, in particular level of implementation of assistance projects included in CoE Action Plan for RM 2017 –     2020, as well as Partnership for Good Governance CoE – EU (PGG) 2015 – 2018 projects for Eastern Partnership countries. Among registered impacts was elaboration of draft Audiovisual Mass Media Services Code of Moldova for which it was requested its legal expertise by CoE.

Thorbjorn Jagland highlighted priority focus on justice reform, fight against corruption and media freedom, assuring authorities of Moldova of plenary support of Organisation on it. Regarding the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, were there welcomed confidence – building projects on both banks of the Dniester river, while attention was paid to identifying human rights monitoring in region and solutions to ensure functionality of Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region.

Tudor Ulianovschi and Thorbjorn Jagland also discussed challenges which face Organisation, including budget, reiterating statutory commitment of each Member State to honour its obligations.
