Day of silence announced in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ – The electoral candidates get prohibition to make election campaigning for new local elections today, which will take place on Sunday, 20 May.

These days, it is not allowed to deploy or reflect activities/materials with object of electoral agitation or appearance of candidates in television or radio programmes.

The continuation of electoral agitation during aforementioned days constitutes an administrative contravention and it is sanctioned with a fine.

Also, prohibition does not refer to information already placed on Internet and posters exposed previously.

On 20 May, there will be elected new mayors in seven localities: Chisinau municipality, Balti municipality, Leuseni village and Nemteni village (Hincesti district), Volovita commune (Soroca district), Jora de Mijloc (Orhei district) and Parlita commune (Ungheni district).

If none of candidates accumulates over half of votes, it will take place the second ballot in a fortnight, where citizens will choose between two electoral candidates which will get most votes in the first round.
