Promo-LEX observers find out cases of electoral agitation, organized carriage of voters in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - More cases of electoral agitation and organized carriage of voters have been found out by observers at the new local polls held in seven settlements from Moldova. The director of the organization, head of the mission of observers Promo-LEX, Pavel Postica, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

According to Postica, more cases of organized transportation of voters by a mini-bus with the symbol of an electoral contender were recorded in the settlement Jora de Mijloc, Orhei district.

‘’A case of obstructing observers’ access and a case of identifying electoral materials nearby the polling station have been registered. Observers informed about three cases of inadequate sealing of ballot boxes and three cases of group voting. Also, unjustified presence of people nearby polling stations has been noticed in the Chisinau, Balti municipalities and Jora de Mijloc settlement. One case of providing a reward for the exercising of vote was noticed too. The incident took place in the Balti municipality,’’ Postica noted.

The head of the observers’ mission of Promo-LEX said that there had also been cases of electoral agitation and black PR, distribution of electoral folders and holding clothes associated with electoral competitors.

‘’One case of violence and intimidation was noticed too, more exactly, it is about a conflict which emerged between a voter and an operator. There were also deficiencies in the information system, which were soon remedied. Observers informed also about deficiencies emerged in electoral lists – 53 cases. Also, cases of recording of errors in the series and number included in identity papers were announced too. Thus, 15 unknown persons were registered in a flat from Chisinau. At the same time, there were 14 cases of taking the picture of the ballot paper in the Chisinau and Balti municipalities,’’ Pavel Postica added.

New local elections of mayors today take place in seven settlements: Chisinau and Balti municipalities, Leuseni and Nemteni villages (Hancesti district), Volovita village, (Soroca district), Jora de Mijloc village (Orhei district) and Parlita village (Ungheni district).
