Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Observers have found out about 30 cases of inaccuracies or deficiencies in the electoral lists at the new local polls held in seven settlements of Moldova. The director of the organization, head of the mission of observers Promo-LEX, Pavel Postica, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
According to Postica, there were 13 cases of taking pictures of the ballot paper at the elections.
„A case of obstructing the process of supervision has been noticed. It is about a conflict emerged between two observers. Six cases of inadequate sealing of ballot boxes were found out; in particular, it is about the insufficiency of the number of seals to boxes. Also, there were six cases when unjustified persons were seen nearby polling stations,’’ Postica said.
The head of the mission stressed that MPs had been seen nearby or inside some polling stations, even if these lawmakers were not to give their suffrages at the polling station.
‘’At the same time, observers informed about three cases of electoral agitation nearby polling stations and two cases of organized carriage of voters in the Jora de Mijloc settlement, Orhei district. Also, there were three cases of deficiencies in the electoral information system, which were remedied soon. Also, the power supply was disconnected at a polling station in the capital. Presently, it works based on a generator. In comparison with the referendum from the last autumn, more incidents were noticed at the new local polls; yet, we believe that this fact takes place, as the voter turnout is higher,’’ Postica noted.
New local elections of mayors today take place in seven settlements: Chisinau and Balti municipalities, Leuseni and Nemteni villages (Hancesti district), Volovita village, (Soroca district), Jora de Mijloc village (Orhei district) and Parlita village (Ungheni district).
The polling stations were opened at 7:00 and will close at 21:00.
