Andrei Nastase urges citizens to actively participate in run-off for new local polls from Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ -The candidate of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA), Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Andrei Nastase, has thanked the citizens for participation in the local polls from the Moldovan capital. Nastase said that, till the holding of the polls’ runoff, he would discuss with citizens and would unveil his electoral programme.
At a news conference, the PPDA leader urged the voters to actively participate in the runoff of the elections.
„We have proved that we can. The struggle for the change continues. Now, we have the chance to return the capital to the citizens. We will have two weeks of work. Thus, starting from tomorrow, we will resume discussions to persuade the citizens to come to vote. I will continue communicating with the voters from Chisinau and suburbs, as well as with their mayors. Also, I will participate in electoral debates, within which I will present the agenda of the capital’s modernization,’’ Nastase said.
Attending the news conference, PAS leader Maia Sandu thanked the voters for mobilization and confidence offered.
„Today, we regained the chance to change the situation in the city. I urge you to vote in the runoff of the polls for freedom, democracy and change,’’ Maia Sandu said.
After the processing of 99 per cent of the official reports, Ion Ceban got 40.98 per cent of the votes, Andrei Nastase – 32,09 per cent and Silvia Radu (independent candidate) – 17.66 per cent.
More than 225,000 citizens participated in the local elections in Chisinau, which accounts for almost 36 per cent of the voters.
