Moldovan cabinet backs biggest investment in Gagauz autonomy

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ - The government pays special attention to the automotive sector and sees a great potential in the creation of jobs and industrial development of Moldova. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici today made statements to this effect while visiting the construction site of a new factory, Fujikura Automotive MLD in Comrat, Gagauz administrative centre.  

“The Moldovan government is an ally of investors. We make all efforts to improve the business environment. To this end, the number of permissive acts has been cut, the number of institutions with control duties was optimized; the single window for permissive acts will be launched. We encourage all investors to benefit from investment opportunities provided by the industrial parks, free economic zones, IT park. Today, a group of potential foreign investors from Japan, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, interested in Moldova’s investment opportunities, are on a visit to Comrat,” Chiril Gaburici noted.     

For his part, the president of Fujikura Automotive Europe, Santiago Rodriguez, appreciated the support they enjoyed on behalf of the Moldovan government and local authorities. He stressed “interest in extending the business, being, in continuation, equally active on the market from Moldova.”   

The completion of the works for the construction of the new factory is scheduled for late 2018. The total area of the hall will be of 10,000 square metres. At present, a factory Fujikura Automotive MLD already works in Comrat, which is the biggest investment in the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri in the last ten years, which allowed creating about 500 jobs. Another 1,000 jobs will be created in the region with the opening of the new factory.

Fujikura is an important player on the world automotive market, with more than 54,000 employees throughout the world. The company’s turnover exceeds 5.65 billion dollars. In 2017, Fujikura Automotive MLD inaugurated the first factory from Moldova, placed at the Expo Business Chisinau Free Economic Zone, where more than 1,300 people work.
