Moldovan MPs rule to create new parliamentary commission

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament will create a standing commission due to consider reports by the Court of Accounts. The new commission will be named commission for control of public money and will become functional in the next legislative period.
The initiative belongs to Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and is aimed at toughening the control over public money.
The new commission for control of public money will have powers of ensuring the legal framework concerning the external public audit and organization of the higher audit institution. Also, the commission members will consider the annual and audit reports by the Court of Accounts, as well as of the audited entities, will check the consideration of petitions and organization of citizens’ hearings regarding the use of public patrimony, will examine the parliamentary control over the work of central and local authorities, in order to enforce the legislation on the use of public financial resources and will fulfill the decisions and addresses by Constitutional Court in the field.
According to Candu, the setting up of the Commission will allow enhancing the degree of transparency in the use of public money and will increase the authorities’ responsibility in the use of public financial means.
The new regulations also see that the parliament will hear at plenary meetings the annual report by the Court of Accounts, presented till 1 May, and the annual report on the administration and use of public money and public patrimony, unveiled will 15 September.
