Chisinau municipality's polling stations start normal activity, say electoral authorities

Chisinau, 03 June /MOLDPRES/ – The polling stations in Chisinau began their normal activity today, and there were present over 6,500 voters at polls until 08:00.

The representative of the Chisinau District Electoral Council has specified in a press briefing that there were no accidents at opening of polling stations.

According to the Chisinau city hall’s information and media communication service, there are included 631,000 voters into basic lists, where fewest are registered in sector Centru and most in sector Botanica of Chisinau municipality.

Thus, about 136,000 voters are registered in sector Botanica, Buiucani – 91,000, Centru – 71,000, Ciocana – 95,000, Rascani – 117,000, and in suburbs – 119,000.

Also, outskirts with fewest voters included within electoral lists are Condrita, and most – Durlesti.

The voting rates are presented in real – time online.

The polling stations opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00.

The mayor general elected after runoff ballot will exercise his duties until general local elections in June 2019. After new local elections on 20 May, Ion Ceban, a candidate from Socialists' party (PSRM), which won 40.97 per cent of vote, and Andrei Nastase, candidate from Party Platform Dignity and Truth (PPDA) for which voted 32.12 per cent of voters. The winner in runoff ballot will be the candidate which will get highest number of votes.
