Promo-LEX observers notify cases of illegal carriage of voters in Chisinau

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - Observers have notified more infringements in the runoff of the new local polls held in Chisinau today. The head of the Promo-LEX observers’ mission, director of the organization Pavel Postica made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

According to Postica, observers signaled concomitant presence of two persons in the voting booth at two polling stations in the Bacioi village, Chisinau municipality and in the Rascani district of the capital. Also, cases were registered of unjustified presence of unauthorized persons in the precincts or in the perimeter of six polling stations. In most cases, it was about representatives of electoral contenders.

Observers also informed about a case when members of the polling station were discussing about a group of voters who would have come to vote being paid for this. At the same time, two cases were signaled of illegal carriage of voters to a polling station of the Tohatin village, Chisinau municipality, and the Botanica district of the capital.

Observers discovered irregularities also in the compilation of electoral lists. More people with residence on the territory of the city did not find themselves in the basic lists, while the others identified unknown persons at their address.

The Promo-LEX mission of observing the 3 June 2018 local elections monitors the runoff from the Chisinau electoral district through five long-term observers. On the election day, Promo-LEX delegated one short-term observer to each polling station of the district. The observers involved in the monitoring process signed the code of conduct of the Promo-LEX independent national observer. They committed to act operatively, with good faith and with nonpartisanship. The work of all observers is coordinated by the central team of the association.
