Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca presented today the results of the working visits to Vienna and Constanta and pointed out the priorities for further work.

Iurie Leanca delivered a speech on the situation in the EU and noted that, due to the developments in Ukraine, Moldova has entered into obscurity. "I would very much like that about the future of our country should not be concerned only the government, but also the opposition that claims to be pro-European. So if it's pro-European, we must have a broad consensus on the matter, and when we go to Brussels, for example, to talk about the future of Moldova in a European context,” Leanca said.

He noted that while in Austria, he met Austrian Federal Minister of European Affairs, Culture and Media Gernot Blümel and discussed Moldova’s European integration and the basic challenges of this process.

"The last visit, after Vienna, I paid to Constanta, where there was an important conference, which gained contours and prestige, focused on security issues in the Black Sea and the Balkans. I'm glad it was a special panel dedicated to security in our region. I delivered a speech there, we discussed Moldova’s future,” he said.

Leanca said that his next visit will take place in Romania. “On 25 June, a meeting of the European Integration Commission Moldova-Romania will be held in Bucharest,” he said.

Asked about Moldova's resolution on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region, he pointed out that it has a symbolic character, and it is very important in the diplomatic process, as it is a form to remind Russia of violating our sovereign right.

On 15 June, Foreign and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi announced that the draft resolution proposed by Moldova to the UN General Assembly on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region will be discussed at the UN on 22 June.
