Yesterday's heavy rains destroyed crops, flooded more households

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/- Heavy rains of yesterday evening destroyed dozens of hectares of crops and flooded cellars and basements of many households in the country.

Liliana Puşcaşu, a press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior, said that after bad weather, rescuers were asked to pump water from several private households from Uzinelor Street, Ştefan cel Mare and Sfânt Boulevard and on the streets of Bacioii Noi and Gherman Pantea in the capital.

“The help of firefighters was also needed in Hancesti district, where the water flooded the cellars and basements of five households. According to the IGSU information,rainfall with hail was recorded in the localities Fundul Galbenei, Bujor, Călmăţui, Pervomaiscoe and Lăpuşna. In the villages of Horeşti and Ţipala, hail affected several agricultural crops, and in the locality of Filipeni, Leova district, the rainfall destroyed four hectares of vine,” Puscasu said.

Yesterday evening, rescuers and firefighters were asked to unlock a blocked minibus at the intersection of the Albişoara and Ismail streets in Chisinau.

According to the data of electricity suppliers, nine localities from Ialoveni, Criuleni, Anenii Noi and Chisinau remained last night for several hours partially disconnected from the electricity.

Material damage caused by rainfall is to be estimated by territorial emergency commissions.
