Moldovan state to pay compensations worth 5.48 million lei to victims of political repressions

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - Sixty three people from various districts of Moldova, including the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia), - victims of political repressions, who lost their assets following their nationalization or confiscation, will get financial assistance in form of compensation for recovering their value. The cabinet approved a decision to this effect today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

To pay the compensations, 5.48 million lei will be earmarked from the state budget. The sum will be distributed in five installments, for all persons to whom the compensation was established starting from 2014 till 2017, including for the payment of a one-off installment to people who turned 75.

The document also sees that, for the assets worth 200,000 lei, the payment of compensation can be distributed for a period of up to 3 years and if the value of assets exceeds 200,000 lei, - for a period of up to 5 years.  

Financial means amounting to 7.5 million lei are approved in the 2018 state budget on this purpose.
