Moldovan cabinet approves actions for preparing education institutions for 2018-2019 academic year

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The local public administration authorities and the ministries which have subordinated education institutions will provide the latter’s preparation for the new 2018-2019 academic year. The government today approved needed actions for the good organization of the education process: ensuring the material and didactic basis, hygienic and sanitary conditions, preparation of the institutions for the cold season, as well as the prevention of risk situation for children and employees of education institutions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

Also, the document provides for the compulsory schooling of all children of the ages between 7 and 16 year, restructuring the network of education institutions, inclusion of the pupils with special education requirements and providing free of charge carriage of children and teachers to education institutions from rural settlements, on distances longer than 2 km.      

At the same time, the free of charge nourishment of all children of the 1st-4th forms will be provided. As for the 5th-12th forms, the children from socially vulnerable families and the pupils from the education institutions of the eastern districts and Bender city, subordinated to the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, will be nourished free of charge. At the same time, all pupils of the 1st-9th forms will get their needed textbooks for free and in the lyceum forms, the children from the disadvantaged families will benefit from manuals free of charge.    

The draft envisages also the undertaking of measures to provide teachers to education institutions. As many as 2,032 teachers are still necessary for the 2018-2019 academic year and this problem is to be partially settled, taking into account the fact that, in 2018, 872 young people will graduate from pedagogical faculties.   

The works for preparing education institutions, as well as the hostels managed are to be finished till 24 August this year. In 2018, 9.8 billion lei is seen for the education system in the state budget.
