Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The process of organization of nourishment of children and pupils in the general education institutions will be improved following the approval by the government of an instruction to this end. The enforcement of the new provisions will contribute to the optimization of controls over the food products meant for children and pupils, ensuring the correctness and transparency at the procurement, delivery and processing of the concerned products and, as a result, to the prevention of food intoxications.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the instruction establishes the stages and duties of all actors involved in the organization of nourishment in the general education institutions, at all stages – from the auctioning of food products or services to the reception of finished dishes from the food unit and their serving to children and pupils.

The document sees a string of activities meant to optimize the nourishment of  children and pupils, including as regards the planning of nourishment, cooking and supply of dishes, daily control over the quality of goods supplied and dishes cooked, with the observance of the food rations for each child/pupil. At the same time, according to the standards set, a rigorous observance of the sanitary and hygienic requirements will be ensured.

As of 1 September 2018, the financial norms allocated for the nourishment of children and pupils in education institutions will be increased by 2 lei for one child per day.

Daily, more than 305,000 children and pupils are nourished in education institutions from Moldova. About one billion lei is provided for to this end in the state budget for 2018.
